about myself
| Background: |
I have taught privately since the eighties. I have also taught public school and held a number of church music positions including soloist, section leader and director. I have worked with toddlers and Octogenarians and everything in between. |
| Qualifications: |
I have a Bachelor's degree in Vocal Performance from California State University at Fullerton and a Master's degree in Voice from The University of Arizona. I have been a chorus member and soloist at the Oregon Bach Festival, The San Luis Obispo Mozart Festival, The International Bach Akademie and others. I have sung with the Arizona Opera Chorus and performed in the school tour of Cinderella. My studio performed the roles of gingerbread chorus for the 2002 production of Hansel and Gretel. In addition to teaching at the two studios and directing the Arizona Youth Chamber Ensemble, I teach Musical Theatre at the NAU Curry Summer Music Camp. |
| Associations: |
I am a member of National Association of Teachers of Singing and the Tucson Teachers of singing. |
| Testimonials: |
Jeannie Shubitz Professional singer/actress:
I studied with Stephanie from my sophomore to my senior year of high school. She was instrumental in both preparing me for a college vocal music program, and in helping me to get into the program itself (with a full-ride scholarship, no less!) I would not be where I am today as a singing professional were it not for her teaching, guidance and support.
Jaimie Pruden Voice major at University of Nebraska Lincoln:
When I left Tucson to attend the University of Nebraska-Lincoln last fall as a vocal performance major, I dug back through all of my high school experiences to produce the chain of events that had ultimately led me to this point. As a passionate 16-year-old choir and drama nerd, there was never any doubt in my mind that I would get formal musical theatre training at an out-of-state university. But had I never met and studied with Stevie Fox, there is no possibility that I would have had as many (or any) incredible programs to choose from. Besides completely re-vamping my vocal technique, Stevie opened the door for me into the blooming community theater scene in Tucson. The numerous opportunities that then became available to me were absolutely invaluable to building my confidence and palette as a performer. I never would have dreamed I would belong to: UNL's vocal music department. It is here with my current voice teacher that I am on the journey to becoming an expansive, competitive and versatile professional performer of musical theater. But Stephanie is the one who set the journey in motion, gathering my scattered, misused energies and giving them focus and purpose, long before I graduated high school. Thank you, Stevie, I love you and I wouldn't be here without you ♥ |
